Whether you live in the Chicago area or are there visiting as a fan, knowing what to expect while tailgating is essential. We've put together some tips so that your day is full of excitement and you take home memories that last for a long time.

How to Tailgate at Soldier Field

When it comes to the rules of tailgating at Soldier Field, there are those that you have to follow and then some guidelines you'll want to consider making the experience more enjoyable. When it comes to the rules you have to follow, they include the following:

  • If you are wondering where you can tailgate at Soldier Field, tailgating is only allowed in 31st Street McCormick Place Lot B, the Alder Planetarium Lot and the Burnham Harbor Lot.
  • Tailgating is permitted four hours before the game and two hours after the game. You are not allowed to tailgate while the game is in progress. You'll have to purchase a parking ticket to park in one of the tailgating lots, and you'll also need a game ticket.
  • Once you're in the lot, you're only allowed one parking space per vehicle. You're not allowed to bring pop-up tents to set up during tailgating. These cause a safety hazard and could make it difficult for vehicles and people to maneuver through the lot.
  • You are allowed to bring alcoholic beverages, but you can only consume them while in the parking lots. Taking them into the stadium is against the rules.

To make the tailgating experience as amazing as possible, here are some guidelines you might consider following:

  • Wear layers. The weather during the fall and winter can be unpredictable, and you want to be comfortable, so bring clothes for every type of temperature you might encounter.
  • Make sure to bring all of the food you want to consume, and perhaps a little extra. This will include the items you want to grill, as well as snacks and beverages.
  • Don't forget plates, napkins, cutlery, a lighter, knives and anything else you'll need to cook with.
